Pulitzer - one of a group of annual prizes in journalism, literature, music. Shawn's dad won the pulitzer(prize) from a poem that he wrote.

fortnight - the space of fourteen nights and days; two weeks. Shawn's dad says in the poem "days become a week and a week draws into a fortnight.

two dimensional - having the dimensions of height and width only. Shawn says that "his dads fears are in a two dementional version".
